April Favourites.

Last month ended up being all about the eyes, so this month I’ve tried to keep things more balanced.

While sick earlier in the month, I ended up lying in bed, googling make up products/trends/reviews etc and decided I wanted in on the Mac soar lip pencil trend. I don’t think you can get Soar from MAC in Japan but I had read that Rimmel’s Eastend snob lip pencil was a dupe. Since we have Rimmel in Japan I thought I’d be able to find it. Eh, not quite, I momentarily forgot that Rimmel ( like Revlon and Nars) rename all their products with numbers. Noooo!
So I picked up Rimmel’s Exaggerate lip liner in 002, which I think is Eastend snob, if not, it’s a very close dupe. And I have been pairing it with my Anna Sui lipstick in 770. Such a beautiful combination. The Rimmel Lip liner can be quite drying, and since it’s a mattish nude it can end up looking a little flat. But I find putting the Anna Sui over the top just added in a little bit of sheen and makes it more comfortable to wear.
I’ve mentioned a few times that I have been hunting for a perfect blue based purple lipstick, and well, now I have two. The first one, MAC Gunner( limited edition but the sephora one below is a good dupe), I randomly stumbled upon at the MAC pro shop in Omotesando. I say randomly as I had gone there to help Kathryn find a lovely bright orange lipstick and then I happened to find a perfect purple lipstick. I saw it and I had to pick it up, and I am so glad I did. It’s touted as a matte but it’s not as matte as the Retromattes nor as drying. It’s very comfortable to wear and I’ve had quite a few compliments while wearing it.
The second lipstick is a cream lip stain from Sephora, Mitsu gave this to me recently and I love it. I have another lip stain (which incidentally Mitsu also gave me) which I also love,as they’re long lasting, smells great (that’s important) and are easy to apply. This particular one, poisoned purple is a gorgeous metallic purple in the tube but isn’t quite as metallic once applied (which I like).
Next up is a product I’ve had for a while now and I may have mentioned it in a favourites post before. It’s Nuxe Multi-purpose dry oil. It absorbs into the skin really quickly and doesn’t leave any residue. Sometimes I apply this to the ends of my hair, but I mostly rub it in to my hands before I sleep. As I adore the scent and find it really comforting. Seriously, this stuff smells amazing!
Greige, lilac and all these muted colours polishes. I mentioned Essie’s Chinchilly before in a most loved post, but I am utterly besotted with all the muted, subtle putty, beiges, lilacs and associated colours. While I do like pastels, I find these colours tones suit me better and are easier to wear in my opinion. I especially adore Essie’s Chinchilly, the formula is great and the colour is gorgeous. CND, while the colour is lovely, the formula is not quite as lovely and easy to apply as Essie.
Watch
I didn’t mention my most recent TV loves in last month’s post :o, so I’ll mention it here. Recently I have been loving Hannibal, I had never watched it before but while sick I binge watched the whole first season and now I am a big fan. I must watch the rest.
I’ve also been re-watching Mad Men on Hulu. Love Mad Men, love the story, the fashion and the characters!

Listen
Inspired by Rex Manning Day, I’ve been listening to a lot of Empire Records and 90’s Brit pop playlists on 8tracks in April.

And there you have it, that was my April most loved.
What are your most loved from April?
Thank you for reading,
Alanna
