August was busy. Really, really busy. :O 5 weeks. PHOTO HEAVY!
Week #40 – August 1st to 7th.
Started the week off with a catch up with Nic (The beauty maniac in Tokyo) for apple pie on Saturday 1st of August in Jiyugaoka. It was so delicious! After we naturally wandered over to a drug store for a gander.

Sunday

Monday I met up with Nicola (Tired of Tokyo) for lunch, we went to World Breakfast Allday and had their Tahitian brekkie :D. Followed by macarons on the steps of Omotesando Hill (NOTE: you can’t sit there).

Went to a Hanabi on Tuesday, I hadn’t been to one since 2012. Needless to say, I was excited! Matsuri food, and fireworks are just awesome! I love watching fireworks in the UK during November when it’s cold (and it’s something I really really miss about living there) but it’s also lovely to watch them on a balmy summers night.

On Wednesday I foolish tried an orange pizza with my friend Chie, the pizza was horrific. But the rest of the meal was good.

I had monjya with Becki on Thursday 6th of August. We also tried a chocolate monjya, which was ..interesting.

On Friday I went up Skytree for the first time. Shocking I know. It’s like THE thing to do when you visit Tokyo, but I’ve never actually gone up the tower before because it was always busy. It was a lovely experience but I think I prefer the Metropolitan building in Shinjuku or Tokyo Tower.

Week #41 – August 8th to 14th
On another hot and balmy summer day, Ksk and I went to our friend’s naked punk band’s gig on Saturday 8th. It was a whole lot of fun, like it is every year. (pictured band is not my friend’s band ..obviously)

Sunday, I went to Asakusa. I’ve been before but that was back in 2011/12 so it was nice to do some touristy things again :D.

10th of August was BEACH DAY!! I specifically booked the Monday off to go to the beach with Ksk before Obon week (after Obon is jellyfish season). It was a stunning day.

Friday was Kathryn’s birthday, so we went to the Pon de Lion cafe at Skytree town. It was such an epic journey to find it, but so worth it. I also received my new passport that day, hooray!

Week #42 – August 15th to 21st
On Saturday 15th, I visited Kamakura and Enoshima for the first time. The day was fun but insanely hot and long. If you ever visit Japan, I’d highly recommend visiting both those places, I’m intending to go back as I didn’t get to see everything I wanted to see.

Monday, Ksk and I met up with Shell and her husband, C for an awesome impromptu high rise dinner. :O

Tuesday I met up with Aditi for pancakes at Slappy Cakes.

On Wednesday I got struck down with the plague.. nah, just a cold. A horrible, horrible cold. I was off work for a few days :(.

Sunday, feeling a bit better. I ventured out to watch Jurassic World

Week #43 – August 22nd to 28th
Monday 22nd, Shell and C invited me to go to Hotel Okura since it was soon to be closed for renovations (aka torn apart and modernised 😦 ) It was a really beautiful and such a wonderful example of 60’s design. Such a shame.

I met with Mimei for coffee on Wednesday. We checked out Lattest and had their seasonal latte, Nutty mint chocolate, it was so delicious!! (I really want another one right now)

Week #44 – August 29th to 4th
Ksk and I went to Gunma on Saturday and Sunday for a bbq.

Tuesday September 1st, I met with Nicola and Siobhan for a catch up and some mexican food in Daikanyama. No photo, as it was too dark :(.
