Bye Bye Happie Nuts.

  Mitsu posted about this already.  Inforest publications recently went bankrupt and ceased publications of several gyaru magazines. It’s a shame but understandable when you think about how a lot of their magazines didn’t really adapt to the changing trends. Nut’s however was one of my favourite magazines, I liked the fashion, the make up and well my favourite model (Sayoko Ozaki) was featured in it heavily.

Recently though, I hadn’t been buying it.

I found myself buying Decolog, Larme and Jelly more.

I guess I had just got bored of Happie nut. It felt a bit repetitive  and it felt like pretty much every issue came with a freebie….. a very boring useless freebie. Usually a make up bag:S.

This was the last issue I was able to pick up but not the official last issue.

I think that magazines in general aren’t as popular as they used to be. I remember as a teenager, I bought quite a few. Probably a lot of them contained information, that you can now just easily find on the web.

As an adult, I  think I mostly only bought Look magazine, as it wasn’t too expensive and I felt like the content was relevant to me. Sure, I like to look in Vogue and Elle, but I can’t afford  like 90% of the products/clothing/places they write about, so whats the point in buying it? Aspiration?

Yeah, I’d rather not torture myself. So I stick to magazines that talked about things I can afford.

I don’t think magazines are ever going to become extinct though, as I am sure there a lot of people who like me, like having the actual physical product.

 Sure, there are lots of people who want all that content on tablets and their phones. It’s easy. It’s convenient. It saves space.

I get that. I agree. I too like having that convenience, but I also like to collect and to hold an item in my hand.

 Reading a digital copy just isn’t the same, and besides I’ve no desire to sit in front of my computer for that long.

So what do you think, are magazines becoming a bit obsolete? Did you ever read Happie Nuts?
