I never knew about First Avenue’s Tokyo Character Street until my friend took me there after I had been in Japan for quite some time.

Located underneath Tokyo station, it can be a bit of a task to find. Well, Tokyo station can be rather confusing anyways.

What is it? It is an underground avenue of character shops. There’s lots of stand alone shops for particular characters such as Rilakkuma, Funashi, Nameko, Pokemon and many more. And most of the major tv companies have shops  showcasing  their character good, *cough TBS HAS GUDETAMA cough*

I think it’s well worth a visit if there’s a particular character you like and just because it’s interesting to see to be honest. I’ve been there twice now and both times, it was pretty busy but an enjoyable experience.

Have you been before? What character shop would you love to visit?

Thank you
