Once upon a time I did used to do monthly favourite posts or something along that line, can’t remember what I called them but I decided to start making favourite posts again.

October in Tokyo is usually not that cold. I actually only got my duvet out from storage about 2 days ago, and I have hardly been wearing a jacket. Just a cardigan and a scarf. However it is beginning to get colder, which I love. Autumn is my favourite season.

First up is my favourite nail polish at the moment, O.P.I “Every Month is Oktoberfest”, this screams Autumn to me. It is sort of a strange colour to explain. It is a deep red with red, purple and gold shimmer but the base colour is a dark blue based purple. Some angles it looks like a dark burgundy, others it looks almost black. Perfect for Autumn in my opinion, and it is easy to apply and long lasting. Win.

Since January, I’ve been trouble with eczema on my face and hand. However in the last couple of months, it has decided to migrate on to my lips :(, making wearing any kind of lip colour nearly impossible. And I love wearing lipstick.

Say hello to Revlon’s Colourstay Moisture stain, I had heard mixed review about this but when I spotted it in Plaza, I had to give it a try. I picked up the colour Miami Fever, which is a gorgeous bright orange. The actual product is like a combination of a balm and a gloss, but it dries down to a stain, which is really quite lovely and works well when I have got eczema on my lips, as it does not cling to every bit of dried skin.

I find my skin retains moisture much better with Hydraluron and this helps the eczema’s appearance a lot, making it look more like regular skin quicker. I really noticed a difference in my skin when I ran out of this earlier this year, thankfully my mum sent me 2 more tubes. Thanks Mum!

YuskinA was a product I bought in desperation when my skin was at its worse and I figured I did not have much to lose. Advertised as a multi purpose skin cream, high in glycerin with camphor and vitamin E and B.  I, in all honestly was very reluctant to try it, the concept reminded me of UK products that I had tried and had never worked. Surprisingly it has really helped. Totally converted! I apply this over my regular moisturiser and use it to sort of lock the moisture in. It is useful as a quick treatment throughout the day too. Providing instant relief and moisture. I am thinking of picking up some of their other products to try, especially as it gets really dry here in Tokyo in the winter.

Speaking of skincare, I like to read Caroline Hiron’s blog and she often talked about acid toners. But a lot of the products she mentioned where difficult for me to get here in Japan. So I hunted and researched for an alternative. Bah dah: introducing Hada Labo Tamagohada Mild Peeling Lotion (not the best name) with AHA + BHA( Gluconic Acid)  which is a very affordable and easy to get in Japan, exfoliating acid toner. Using this has really helped my skin, I feel it is clearer and brighter now. Days I skip using this, I noticing the difference.

This month for every day make up, I have really been loving contouring. However none of my favourite products are anything to do with that. Instead I have included MAQUILLAGE’s eyebrow pencil in GY951( grey), this is actually my second one I love it that much. I use this every day, and just find it to be really easy to use and a great colour match for my dark brown hair.

Also included is a pencil eyeliner. Which is unheard of for me. I love gel and liquid liner, pencil liner is just meh and I only ever used it to tightline. I never used to use it on my actual lid. Well I tried it and I like it .And in Brown too! The one I’ve been loving this month is Bourjois Regard Effet Metallise Eyeliner – 52 Brun Inoxydable. It add some subtle definition but isn’t too heavy.

Last but not least, an old favourite of mine. MAC paint pot in Painterly. I usually use Urban Decay primer potion for my eyeshadow primer but recently I have rediscovered my old love for MAC’s Painterly, which is just a simple beige paint, that makes my shadows stand out and last longer.

What are your most loved products this month?

Thank you for reading and I hope you enjoyed reading about my favourites, please do share your current favourites too. I would love to read them.
