Hailing from Nagano, Maruyama Coffee now has a few locations around Kanto including two in the Tokyo area, Oyamadai and this one in Hiroo. Starting as a smaller roastery, owner Kentaro Maruyama has expanded his business from a small coffee shop/roastery in a cottage in Karuizawa, Nagano into a highly respected and prestigious business and one of the pioneer in the Japan specialty coffee movement.
He used to serve as the Chairman for the cup of excellence (COE) and Maruyama coffee has produced multiply champions in various well renowned and respected coffee competition in Japan, Asia and the world. Most recently winning the World Barista Championships in Rimini 2014 (WBC) with the first Asian champion; Hidenori Izaki.
Mauryama is one of my favourite cafes. It’s combination of style, comfort, impeccable service and delicious coffees is what sells it for me. Their menu has a wide variety of coffees, and the cafe has a relaxed atmosphere.
