It’s been a while.
I took an unscheduled break, and the longer the break went on, the more I felt like I had to come back with an amazing post. The Queen of all posts! And consequently, ended up putting too much pressure on myself and not posting.

I toyed with the idea of closing my blog entirely, the blogging scene is pretty much non-existent now and most bloggers have moved on to greener pastures. There’s no sense of community anymore and people seem to read but never comment. That kind of saddens me until I remembered that I blog for myself.
Having people read and comment is fantastic, and I’m always appreciative of that but I primarily started up my blog as a way of keeping up my English skills when I left university. I always blog with that in mind, as I’ve never been a particular strong writer. But it became even more important when I moved to Japan, as teaching children English for nearly 2 years really took it’s toll on my own English, in that I lost a lot of vocabulary and writing continuous prose was near impossible.

My absence recently I think was primarily to do with natsubate. A term which I only heard about this year! Despite living and working in Japan for nearly 4 years, this summer was my first summer actually working. Previous summers, thanks to ALT contracts, I didn’t have to work during the summer and I hide away to avoid the heat and humidity.
Natsubate is summer exhaustion/ fatigue, where you have no appetite, trouble sleeping and in general, just feel utterly exhausted.
Which pretty much describes my summer.

But summer is nearly over and Tokyo is slowly coming into Autumn now. Which I am ecstatic about, as Autumn is my favourite season and Autumn in Tokyo is especially pretty.
So I’m looking forward to the cooler weather and hopefully more time to work on my blog.
Thank you for reading.
